We are so happy to interview our good friend Jenny Schneider aka @jenny_schneider and have her as our artist spotlight this week!
Hello! Please can you give us a brief little introduction about yourself?
I am an artist, author, illustrator and yoga teacher living outside of Boston with my family. I am also a mama of two awesome teenage boys.
Defining myself has never felt easy but here are a few notes about my life paths.
I grew up in Germany, lived for 4 years in Mexico City, where I received a BA in Psychology but also started my journey into painting. From there I moved onto Cambridge, MA to study at Lesley University. I hold a MA in Art Therapy and have studied many classes at the SMfA (School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston) to further my skills in illustration and different types of media.
What inspires you? What do you like to draw?
I certainly have a wandering and curious mind, a pretty positive outlook on life and according to my friend a turquoise aura. I love to travel and learn from other countries and cultures. My art is inspired by nature, yoga and all that is beautiful around us and I hope to elevate the seemingly mundane to something special.
The little things? The little moments? They aren’t little. -John Kabat Zinn
What art goals do you have for this year?
My goal for this year is to focus on creating a consistent illustration portfolio to be send out to publishers and/or agents. I am also creating a series of Yin Yoga Cards that I would love to get published.
What techniques/supplies do you use?
I work in watercolor and digital media for my illustrations. But I also love to create abstract art working with collage, paper cutting and watercolor.
What advice would you give to another doodler/artist?
Doodle a lot, have fun with it and try not to compare yourself with someone on social media. I know it’s hard but social media only gives us a curated glimpse and we really have no idea what’s going on on the other side of that device.
Where can people go to learn more about you or see more of your work?
More of my work is on my website: www.jenny-schneider.com
